The European single market is our best asset
During my visit to Luxembourg, it was very clear to me the importance of the European single market. The EU is a market of 450 million consumers, and when you are part of it, it doesn’t matter if you are big or small, because you are still part of a system that boosts our economies.
If we unleash the full potential of the Single Market, in particular, the Digital Single Market and the single market of service, the EU economy will get an even bigger boost.
Luxembourg has been a key driver for innovation in e-payment: it is important we continue to develop similar innovations and enhance our single market with e-services.
During my visit, I also had the chance to meet with the Luxembourgish judge at the European Court of Justice. We discussed the current threats to our common values. We need to establish an independent and effective rule of law mechanism that covers all the Members States while focusing on the independence of the judiciary, media freedom, and corruption.
Luxembourg is a perfect example of how local manufacturers draw on long-established traditions of craftsmanship.
I visited the “Chocolate House” of the Grand Ducal Palais, where I saw how important it is to preserve local shops by offering quality products to the consumers, this is crucial for our local economies.
